ABOUT ME

Hello and welcome! My name is Kristen, I am a self taught oil painter from the Seattle area in Washington State. My art can be described as somewhere between semi-realistic landscapes and dream-like fantasy art.

Since a young age, I have always been a day dreamer with a love of fantasy, folklore, and nature. My goal when I create a painting is to create a miniature world full of magic, peace, and wonder that the viewer can immerse themselves in. I am fascinated by how a landscape can change at night and you will often find themes of the stars and the moon in my art. Historically night time and the dark have been associated with evil, yet some of the most mysterious and beautiful natural phenomena can only be viewed at night, such as the northern lights, milky way, and bio-luminescence.

I didn't really grow up thinking that I would be an artist, sure I drew and scribbled here and there, but I didn't start painting until I had to take an acrylic painting class in college while studying for my associates in graphic design.
A year or so later in 2014 I discovered Bob Ross and wanted so badly to create landscapes the way he did, so I picked up oil painting and never turned back. Soon one thing lead to another and in 2019 I opened up my Etsy shop and started selling my original paintings and prints.

​In 2021 I quit social media with the exception of Pinterest, and am now exploring new avenues of operating my art business without it.

Outside of painting, I work during the day as a graphic designer and have been a hobby musician singing and playing guitar since I was a kid. Otherwise you will find me adventuring outside with my husband, or curled up with some tea and my cat.
